Pineapple!! :D:D

6 Jan

One of the food that I dearly miss from back home are tropical fruits! Deep red sweet papaya, yellow bursting-with-juice pineapple, tens of kinds of bananas, sweet succulent mangoes, I can go on and on and on about them….

So when I went to Costco the other day, I picked up 1 whole pineapple πŸ™‚ 1 whole pineapple back home only costs me 40 cents.. in here it’s almost 5 bucks.. 😦

I have never peeledΒ  a pineapple my whole life. Back home, I usually buy my pineapple from the traditional market, so we just choose which one we want, and the vendor will peel it for us πŸ™‚ Then we just have to remove the core, slice them, and nom them πŸ™‚

The sight of a whole pineapple is pretty daunting…..

But, it turns out that tackling a whole pineapple is much easier than I thought! After snapping of the ‘crown’, just peeled them from top to bottom, cut into quarters, remove the core, and slice them. In just 5 mins, I got a container filled with yellow and sweet pineapple.. hm……

My favourite way of eating pineapple is with a sprinkle of salt. Somehow the salt brings out the sweetness in them πŸ™‚

it is delicious πŸ™‚ not that sweet though.. I boiled some water, sugar, chili, vinegar, and salt, and then put that mixture over the top of some slices of pineapple to make ‘hot sweet pickle’. it’s marinating in the fridge now, hope it’s good πŸ™‚
